"Sorry, your Jeep radiator can not be fixed if it is leaking from the top or bottom of the radiator where the plastic part meets the metal part" I say different. I had radiator shops quote me between $197 to $299 for a new radiator. Being a student it was either starve for the next month and drive my jeep to university with a new radiator or take the bus and have enough money for food! A new YJ radiator just was not an acceptable option. So I used my auto mechanics and metalworking background to come up with a cheaper radiator fix. Once I made what I call "Armadillo Skins" it took me less than 20 minutes to fit them on my used and leaking radiator and I have had no problems ever since.

Below are the pictures of my radiator prior to my fix. Showing the cracked radiator tabs. Any radiator repair shop will tell you these can't be fixed as the metal they used eventually fatigues and will not hold down the plastic top (or bottom) of the radiator. |
